Breakfast Corn Dogs
Jimmy Deans sausage wrapped in a breakfast corn bread mix. A treat the whole family will enjoy for breakfast lunch and dinner.
Ingredients
1 package of precooked sausages
1 box of jiffy corn bread mix
2 cups of pancake mix
1/2 cup of milk
1 egg
Water
Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a bowl, add the corn bread mix, pancake mix, milk and egg. Add about 2 cups of water to the mixture and mix. If the mixture is really thick, add more water until it is thin enough to drip off of the corn dog but not to thin where it runs off. This will be based on preference.
- I like to cut the sausages in half to help them fry easier. I stick a toothpick in each sausage to help dunk them in the corn bread mixture.
- Heat oil in a sauce pan or a cast iron pan. Put enough oil in the pan to allow the sausages to be able to be fully submerged to fry.
- Once the oil has heated to 350 degrees F, start dunking the sausages in the corn bread mixture and then place them in the oil. Allow any excess to drip off in the bowl before putting it in the oil.
- Once all of the sausage are cooked, serve them with some warm syrup. These will make your children jump for joy!
